Connecting Strap Edge to PS4/PS4 Pro

There are several options to connect your PS4 to your Woojer Strap Edge. Choose the right option for you, which depends on your specific hardware and needs:

  • Connecting the Woojer Strap Edge to the PS4 USB output
  • Connecting the Woojer Strap Edge to the PS4 controller
  • Connecting the Woojer Strap Edge to the rear optical output (exists in certain models)
  • Connecting the Woojer Strap Edge to the front USB port
  • Connecting the Woojer Strap Edge to your TV set

Note: Connecting your Woojer Strap Edge to your TV with the TV's internal Bluetooth can cause a significant delay and therefore isn't recommended.

Please refer to the below sections to choose the right connection type for you.

USB connection

For this type of connection, you'll need a Type-C to Type-A USB cable.
Note: If the audio signal coming out of the PS4 USB isn't strong enough, you should consider the other connection options.

  1. Connect the Type-A end of the USB cable to the PS4 console USB port.
  2. Connect the Type-C end of the USB cable to the Woojer Strap Edge's Type-C input.
  3. Connect your headphones to the Woojer Strap Edge's headphone jack.
  4. Go to the sound settings of your PS4. Make sure the output device is configured correctly
  5. Make sure the PS4 output volume is set to max.

Wired Connection, using the DualShock controller

  1. Connect the Woojer Strap Edge to the DualShock controller using the provided 3.5mm cable. One end to the controller's output jack and the other to Woojer Strap Edge's audio-in jack.
  2. Connect your headphone to the Woojer Strap Edge's headphone jack.
  3. If you'd like to use the PS4 in-voice chat channel, you should connect your Woojer Strap Edge to the DualShock controller using a TRRS (4 pins) cable, like the one that comes with your Woojer Strap Edge.

Wired Connection, using an optical (S/PDIF) audio cable (for PS4 models with optical output)

  1. Connect one end of the digital audio cable to a S/PDIF (optical audio) port on the console.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a Digital Optical to Analog Converter.
  3. Connect your Woojer Strap Edge to the converter analog output, using a 3.5mm cable.
  4. Connect your headphone to the Woojer Strap Edge's headphone jack.
  5. If you would like to use the PS4 in-voice chat channel, connect a 3.5mm dummy plug to the controller audio jack. Then, go to PS4 settings and set the input and output devices.

Wireless connection, using a low-latency USB Bluetooth transmitter

  1. Connect a low-latency Bluetooth transmitter to the PS4 USB port.
  2. Pair your Woojer Strap Edge with the Bluetooth transmitter. Refer to the transmitter's manual for pairing instructions.
  3. Connecting your headphones: We recommend that you connect your wired headphones directly to your Woojer Strap Edge. Alternatively, if your Bluetooth transmitter is a dual-link one, you can pair both the Woojer Strap Edge and your Bluetooth headphones concurrently.

Note:

  • Dual-link connections are not 100% reliable and you might experience low audio quality when pairing two receivers concurrently. That depends on the specific transmitter and receivers.
  • A dual-link, low-latency connection can be established only if your headphones support low-latency, as does the Woojer Strap Edge. The actual latency will always be dictated by the higher latency device.
  • An in-voice chat channel cannot be established with this type of connection.

Wireless connection, using an optical audio cable (S/PDIF) and a low-latency Bluetooth transmitter (for PS4 models with optical output)

  1. Connect one end of a digital audio cable to the S/PDIF (optical audio) port on the console.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a low-latency Bluetooth transmitter.
  3. Pair your Woojer Strap Edge with the Bluetooth transmitter.
  4. Connecting your headphones: You can connect wired headphones directly to your Woojer Strap Edge. Alternatively, if your Bluetooth transmitter is a dual-link one, you can pair both the Woojer Strap Edge and your Bluetooth headphones concurrently. You can also skip this step and use your TV speakers instead.
  5. If you'd like to use the PS4 in-voice chat channel, connect a 3.5mm dummy plug to the controller audio jack. Then, go to PS4 settings and set the input and output devices.

Wireless headphones w/ Base Station

You can connect both wireless headphones and a Woojer Strap Edge to a PS4 simultaneously only if your wireless headphones have an additional output port on their Base Station (e.g.: Astro A50 headphones, Steelseries Wireless Pro). Please refer to our Gaming Consoles tab of the Support Portal, where all currently tested headsets will be featured.

Here are some examples of low-latency Bluetooth transmitters:

Creative BT-W2 USB Bluetooth Audio Transceiver with aptX Low Latency

Reiyin WT-04 aptX Low Latency USB Audio Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter

Avantree dual-link, low-latency, Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter with optical (S/PDIF) input

Avantree Oasis Plus, dual-link, low-latency, Bluetooth transmitter with optical (S/PDIF) input (extended range)
